Synopsis: This subject is concerned with the theory and practice of environmental policy and management. Themes include the internationalisation of environmental policy, the rise of corporate environmentalism, native title and indigenous rights, and the importance of property rights. Methods of environmental management will be introduced, including environmental impact assessment, social impact assessment, state of the environment reporting, and public participation. Case studies will refer to biodiversity, forestry, climate change, and water resources.

Assessment: Written: (3000 words) 45% + Tutorial/practical assignments (1500 words): 25% + Examination (1.5 hours): 30%
