6 points + 150 hours project work + First/Second semester, Gippsland/Distance + Prerequisite: Completion of 120 credit points or permission
Synopsis: Students undertake a project related to a realistic industrial problem or a specific area of research, planning a solution over a period of 15 weeks and present the final detailed plan for the solution development and testing in the form of a progress report. Project topics are agreed in consulation with a campus-based supervisor. Where projects are carried out in conjunction with an outside body, an industry-based supervisor is also appointed. Students are expected to maintain close contact with their supervisor and are required to complete a feasibility report, keep a logbook and present a progress report at the end of the semester.
Assessment: Based on the feasibility report, logbook and progress report: 100%
