Synopsis: This subject introduces the history and development of the representation of the human figure and, through practical exercises, acquaints students with a visual vocabulary to meet their expressive needs. Using the model to explore a variety of different poses and contexts, this subject enables students to render the human image under a variety of lighting conditions and convey an understanding of how the figure can be such a powerful and expressive subject.
