Synopsis: This subject further develops the statistical concepts from ETX1640 and introduces their specific application to business sectors such as finance and accounting - specifically auditing. The various techniques of sampling from large data sets are examined with emphasis placed on how to add value in the process of analysing the results. To this end, students are introduced to SPSS - a statistical analysis package that is one of the most commonly used in industry. The focus of this subject is twofold: firstly, to understand how to apply relevant statistical techniques appropriately and secondly, how to interpret the results so that conclusions drawn have both meaning and value to management.
