6 points + Two 1-hour lectures and one 2-hour tutorial per week + First semester + Clayton + Prerequisite: ETC2400 or ETC2410

Synopsis: Practical applications of econometric techniques to study the economy. Topics studied will cover both microeconomic and macroeconomic models. In applied microeconomics, the emphasis will be on widely-used practical approaches to modelling discrete and limited dependent variables. Supportive economic examples will illustrate the interaction between applied microeconomic techniques and microeconomic modelling. In applied macroeconomics the emphasis will be on modelling short-run and long-run dynamics, forecasting and the estimation of simultaneous equations that make up an economy-wide model.
