Synopsis: Power frequency overvoltages. Lightning and switching surges. Insulation coordination. Surge protection and diverters. Travelling waves: lattice diagrams and computer analysis. Circuit interruption, arc plasma models. Circuit breaker specifications, applications and condition monitoring. TRV computer analysis, current chopping, kilometric fault. Principles of system protection, relays and protection schemes. Computer based control and supervision systems.
Assessment: Examination (3 hours): 70% + Practical work and laboratory work: 30%
