Synopsis: How children in different educational, familial, societal and cultural contexts use language to achieve particular purposes. Students examine a variety of learning environments and instructional materials to develop the knowledge, skills, values and attitudes associated with teaching English and Studies of Society and Environment. How children's reading, writing, oracy can be used to explore children's own society to assist them in explaining its origins, diversity and dynamics.
Assessment: Fieldwork tasks (1500 words): 40% + Examination: 60%
