12 points + 3 hours per week + First semester for classes + all year for practicum + Clayton + Corequisites: EDF6233 and 15 days teaching practice
Synopsis: (For local students only): Links between second language education theory, systematic features of spoken and written English and classroom practice. It includes a classroom component of 8 weekly sessions, including the equivalent of 7 days of micro-teaching and focussed observation, and a placement of at least 15 days in a language centre or other institutional setting. (For International students only): Same as above, but will not undertake the 15 day placement.
Assessment: (Local Students): Language awareness exercises 25% + focussed observations 10% + preparation of model lessons for micro-teaching 20% + successful completion of 15 day placement including practicum folio 45% and for (International Students): Language awareness exercises 25%+ focussed observations 10% + preparation of model lessons for micro-teaching 20% + case study of an ESOL learner 20% + unit of work for an ESOL class 25%.
