Synopsis: Approaches to research design and methodology, especially naturalistic research methods. Topics include action research; case studies; methodological issues arising from classroom observation, recording and transcription; informant interviewing; document analyses. The subject includes information about all stages of planning and undertaking a research project, using library and internet resources, ethical approval, conventions in style and citations, planning the literature review, the supervision and examination processes, and dissemination of research findings.
Assessment: Record of reflections (2000 words): 30% + Oral presentation (1500 words): 20% + Assignment (2500 words): 50%
