Synopsis: Trends in the use of English internationally. Linguistic variations in spoken English (including phonetics, phonology) and linguistic variation in written English (including notions of genre, functional grammar). The needs of learners of English and education policy in the student0s society. Developments in approaches to teaching and learning EFL and their application to the student0s future/current employment context.

Assessment: Written (2000 words): 30% + Oral presentation (1500 words): 20% + Essay/report (2500 words): 50%
