Synopsis: This subject will briefly examine the concept of life long learning and the societal trends that have drawn attention to adult learning. It will introduce students to the core body of theories and practices traditionally associated with adult learning. Concepts of leadership and facilitation of adult learning will be explored. The role of the adult educator will be theorised with reference to responsibilities and values and their relationship to educational practices. Debates around leadership and facilitation will be introduced.

Assessment: All tasks negotiated but equivalent to 4,000 words: Critical incident questionnaire and written critical reflective piece on their personal stance as educators, (40%) 1500 words (objectives 1 & 4), Essay (60%) 2500 words (objectives 2 & 3)
