Synopsis: Understanding energy. Energy production. Energy storage: superconductivity, magnetic storage, batteries, pump storage. New energy sources: wind, solar energy. Application of innovative energy designs: heat pumps, daylighting systems, hybrid solar-thermal and photovoltaic systems. Modern energy-efficient electrical systems: motors, drives, lighting systems. Load modelling and demand forecasting. Energy metering and billing systems. Energy tariffs. Economic analysis of energy supply and use. Energy and environment.

Assessment: Examination (2 hours): 70% + Practical work: 30%
