Synopsis: Modelling and simulation of optical communication components in the time and frequency domains, optical modulation and pulse generation, optical fibre dispersion and attenuation causing optical lowpass filtering, intersymbol interference caused by optical receiver noise, channel distortion, mode hopping and optical source spectral width; optical amplification, equalisation and signal processing; wavelength-division multiplexing and demultiplexing techniques; applications of optical communication systems.
