Synopsis: Topics include the gains and costs of trading internationally; static and dynamic welfare effects of protection; the political economy of international trade policy; optimum policies in the presence of market power, uncertainty, and other market imperfections; trade policy instruments; the interactions of trade policy and environmental policy; strategies for trade liberalisation including regional trade agreements.
Assessment: In-course assessment: 30% + Examination (3 hours): 70%
