3D Modeling for Design 2

(A&D)

3 points + 2 studio hours and 4 independent study hours per week + Second semester + Caulfield + Prerequisites: DIS3107

Synopsis: The subject will focus on creating accurate 3D surface models and photo-realistic images of designed products. Through the modeling of the product the student will further develop their skills in understanding form and develop strategies for solving complex modeling problems. The modeling techniques used are those most relevant for the design, engineering, and tool-making/ rapid-prototyping industries. The student uses the 3D model to evaluate component layout, form, colour and texture. The completed model is used to produce presentation artwork, detail technical drawings and may also be used in the creation of prototypes.

Assessment: Assignment-based work: 30%. Studio-based design work: 70%.
