3D Design and animation

3 points + 2 studio hours and 4 independent study hours per week + First semester + Caulfield + Prerequisites: DIS2902

Synopsis: Introduction to time-based media where an element or environment changes over a period of time. 3D modeling software to construct objects and environments which contain a combination of mechanical and geometric forms. Texture and bump mapping surface control techniques. Control of lighting and other atmospheric conditions. Optimising animations for a variety of output options, eg videotape, Quicktime movies for CD ROM or Internet publishing.
