3 points + 6 hours per week, including 2 studio hours and 4 hours of independent study + First semester + Caulfield for 2000, then Berwick from 2001 + Prerequisite: admission to BDes(MMD) degree + Corequisites: None + Prohibitions: None + Core subject for BDes(MMD) degree

Synopsis: This subject introduces students to the methods and processes involved in the production of animation. The basic elements of animation are introduced, including timing, walk cycles, inbetweening and character design. Animation is placed in the context of multimedia, and projects are based around the role that animation performs in multimedia design. Various methods for drawing and rendering will also be examined, including drawing, collage and computer based cel creation.

Assessment: Major projects (60%), Journal (40%)
