Synopsis: The selection of B cells and the generation of B cell heterogeneity will be discussed. The role of the thymus in the development of T lymphocyte repertoires will also be reviewed as will mechanisms of immunoregulation, including tolerance to self antigens, regulation of immune responses by cytokines, and manipulation of the immune response by drug treatment.

Assessment: Theory examinations: 50% + Oral presentations: 20% + Two essays (2000 words each): 30%
