Synopsis: This subject will cover the generation of the humoral immune response, the function of immunoglobulin isotypes, and the contribution of accessory cells and the complement system to this defence system. New insight into T cell mediated immunity will also be covered, including antigen presentation to T cells and T cell recognition of antigen peptides complexed with MHC molecules.

Assessment: Theory examinations: 50% + Oral presentations: 20% + Two essays (2000 words each): 30%
