Synopsis: This subject will provide a comprehensive summary of transplantation immunology and of immunodeficiency and lymphoproliferative diseases. Topics relating to transplanation immunology will include the pathogenesis of transplant rejection and of graft-versus-host disease, tests for typing and monitoring transplant patients and immunosuppressive therapy. With respect to immunodeficiency and lymphoproliferative diseases, an overview of congenital and acquired immunodeficiency diseases including AIDS and of lymphoproliferative diseases (leukemia and lymphoma) will be included together with tests for diagnosis of these diseases and new strategies for their immune intervention.

Assessment: Oral presentations: 20% + Four assignments (1000-2000 words each): 80%
