Synopsis: Health education and promotion in a rural environment. Major developments, theories and paradigms of health. Behavioural changes which influence health practices. Principles and philosophies of contemporary initiatives taken by the World Health Organisation and national and state governments, and their effects on rural health strategies. These initiatives include Primary Health Care, Health for All by the Year 2000, the Ottowa Charter for Health Promotion and Healthy Cities.
