Synopsis: Information (data and image) as a resource, syntactic, content, semantics based models of information and image representation, storage and retrieval, performance evaluation, resource discovery in internet, resource optimisation of image retrieval over the net, image browsing levels for image retrieval, user interface issues in information and image retrieval, handling of large text and image based systems, real application of information and image retrieval.

Assessment: Practical work: 50% + End-of-semester examination: 50%
