Synopsis: The data entry process, errors and error rates, quality management, information theory, coding theory, hardware interfaces, data entry hardware, data presentation hardware, case studies of automated data input systems, implementing systems, the systems lifecycle, work flow re-engineering, security and legal issues. Case studies of database access over the Internet are presented.

Assessment: Examination (2 hours): 50% + Practical work: 50%
