6 points + 24 hours theory, 120 hours clinical + Second semester + Prerequisites: CNS6552 + Corequisite: CNS6553 + MMC Clayton

Synopsis: Factors impacting on the normal progress of the neonate. The focus is on the midwife's role in the promotion, maintenance and restoration of neonatal health within the context of the family. Legal, ethical and political issues relevant to neonates and their families are introduced. Clinical experience allows students to develop skills to provide care for the ill or at risk neonate and the family.

Assessment: A clinical workbook and a written assignment + Clinical competencies must be achieved
