8 points + 20 hours per week + Summer semester + East China Normal University, Shanghai + Prerequisites: a pass in CHI2211 + Prohibitions: CHI1220/2220, CBL1220/2220

Synopsis: This subject will introduce students to intermediate modern standard Chinese with equal emphasis on the four skills of reading, writing , listening and speaking.

Assessment: Written homewrok and journal: 20% + Examinations (3 hours): 50% + Aural/oral tests and class performance: 30%
