Synopsis: This subject guides the student through the historical development of general practice from the apothecaries of 18th century England to its current central role in national health care system in the late 20th century. Eminent general practitioners discuss the philosophy and special characteristics of general practice care to provide the student with a deeper understanding of the role of the general practitioner.
