Synopsis: Topics include introduction to the common law and legislation which controls the management of staff; instruction in the law affecting the selection, recruitment and termination of staff; employment contracts and their implications; the industrial relations commissions court; workplace health and safety and other legal forums; union relationships and industrial action; tortious liability of management; wages and salary administration, suspension and stand down; anti-discrimination law.

Assessment: Major project assignment (4000 words): 40% + Examination (3 hours): 60%
