Synopsis: Students engage in a program of research training aiming to provide them with technical skills and knowledge commensurate with proceeding to a research career at MSc or PhD level, or undertaking other professional laboratory-based activities, or non-laboratory-based professions, such as education, business or administration. Students undertake a supervised research project on which they prepare a written report and deliver an oral report. In addition students prepare a literature review on a topic related to their research, deliver a journal club oral presentation, attend seminars and attend a lecture program.

Assessment: Laboratory research: 47.5% + Three assessment-of-data exercises: 25% + Oral presentations: 17.5% + Literature review: 10%
