4 points + 1.5 hours per week + First semester + Clayton + Prerequisites: Completion of one or more subjects with considerable Asian content or permission

Synopsis: Basic approaches to research, including notions of qualitative and quantative methods. The formulation of the problem conscious, including attention to the literature review, the indentification of key issues and concepts, significance, the units of analysis, the operationalisation of key concepts, sampling and aspects of writing a statement explaining a problem consciousness.

Assessment: Written (2000 words): 75% + Examination (1 hour): 25%
