Synopsis: This subject entails the study of ancient Egypt from the end of the Middle Kingdom until the Late Period. It will follow the same general themes and format as ARY2970 but will also include a study of the international character of Egyptian culture throughout the period and examine Egypt's relations with the other Near Eastern and Mediterranean cultures. The course will focus primarily upon the New Kingdom.

Assessment: Tutorial presentation (1000 words): 20% + Essay (2500 words): 30% + Slide test (30 minutes): 10% + Examination (2 hours): 40%
