Synopsis: A project critically surveying and applying frameworks proposed in the current literature relevant to a subfield of linguistics suitable for computational treatment. No prior programming experience is assumed; however, students are expected to approach linguistic data in a manner consistent with computer-assisted analysis. The likely focus is lexicography. The subject draws on insights from linguistics, computer science and cognitive science.
Assessment: Two computational assignments (3500 and 2500 words each): 70% + Practical (computational) exercises equivalent to 2000 words: 20% + Class participation: 10%
