Synopsis: There are five main areas of study: computer operation (IBM PC-MS DOS); software evaluation; lesson design; courseware creation; CALL research considerations. The subject begins with an intensive four-day (24-hour) workshop during the week preceding the second semester. During the term, computer-based tasks are assigned for completion outside of class time. Formal classes end the week preceding the mid-semester break, after which students meet with the instructor on an individual basis as required to complete their projects.
Assessment: Class computer-based lessons: 35% + Oral synopsis (45 minutes): 15% + Written synopsis (15 pages): 25% + Oral software evaluation (45 minutes): 10% + Written software evaluation (5 pages): 15%
