The Graduate Diploma in Retail and Wholesale Business caters for experienced
retail managers, generally graduates from disciplines other than
retail/marketing, who wish to undertake study in retail business subjects at
the graduate level.
Applicants require a pass degree in a discipline other than marketing/ retail
or an equivalent qualification from a recognised tertiary institution, plus a
minimum of two years relevant employment experience or an executive certificate
from this faculty with an average grade of credit or above. The course is
offered off-campus and will therefore be available to retail managers based in
retail or related service organisations anywhere in Australia or abroad.
Applicants from abroad will need to meet the university's requirements
regarding proficiency in English.
Candidates may be eligible for up to four credit exemptions where they have
completed subjects considered to be equivalent to particular subjects in the
Graduate Diploma in Retail and Wholesale Business. Where candidates have
completed subjects similar in content, but not equivalent to, particular
subjects in the course, the course director may request another suitable
subject be substituted.
This is a fee-paying course. Candidates should consult the Department of
Marketing as to the 2000 course fee. Course fees are set and reviewed annually
and are therefore subject to change.
The course is recognised by the Australian Retailers' Association. Course
graduates employed in the retail industry are eligible to apply for graduate
membership.
Students who successfully complete the Graduate Diploma in Retail and Wholesale
Business may apply for admission to the Master of Business (Retail and
Wholesale).
The course consists of the following eight core subjects:
