Course code: 1246 * Gippsland campus * Full-fee paying: subject fee $1050; course fee $8400 (2000 fees) and amenities fee $125 (1999) * Attendance not required.

Aims

The course has been designed to provide registered nurses with in-depth knowledge and specialised skills to promote effective functioning in the community health area. Graduates should therefore be capable of functioning as advanced care givers in community health settings; be able to demonstrate an ability to apply advanced problem solving skills to patient care; and be equipped to respond to an increasingly complex health care environment.

Special requirements

Students who are not currently working in a community setting will be required to undertake four weeks practice in a community setting of their choice.

The course is of two years duration by distance education, and is structured as follows:

Assessment

Assessment for the course consists of assignment work plus project in the field.

Applications for credits/exemptions should be made in writing and will be considered where details of equivalent studies undertaken and work completed are provided for consideration.
