Special requirements

Course outline

Students are required to complete the following subjects over two years of part-time study by distance education.

Year one

Year two

As well as completing the six subjects, students must successfully complete a total of 45 days of supervised school experience. This requirement forms an essential part of the teaching method subjects. Placements must be completed in both year one and year two of the course.
This is a conceptual outline only. It gives a general indication of how the course will progress and is subject to change without notice. Students should consult the course coordinator to assist in planning their program.

Method subjects

Teaching method subjects are offered in the following areas:

Students must undertake two single methods (eg English and SOSE; maths and SOSE; maths and science), or a double method (eg double visual arts; double science) where double methods are offered. Enrolment in methods requires a major or submajor in the discipline (eg a major in English or maths as appropriate). It is possible that all these methods may not be available in a given year. Please check with the faculty to confirm which methods are to be offered.

Assessment

Assessment is by way of a combination of tasks which may include examinations, assignments and other set tasks.

Credits/exemptions

Credit may be granted for equivalent study of a Graduate Diploma of Education (Secondary) at another tertiary institution. Applicants should apply for credit prior to enrolment in the course.
