General information

Berwick, Caulfield, Clayton, Gippsland and Peninsula campuses, on-campus and by distance education.

Objectives

To offer graduates a major in psychology which has been accredited by the Australian Psychological Society and so permit them to undertake the further training needed to obtain professional qualifications.
To provide graduates with the necessary computer, research and statistical skills required to prepare a psychological laboratory report.
To provide the theoretical background to the application, construction and use of psychological tests and assessment procedures.
By providing knowledge of the major fields in psychology to assist graduate students in making a career change or to help graduates determine how psychology may be used in their existing professions.

Admission requirements

Entry will be open to graduates who have completed an undergraduate degree in any discipline. Selection will be based on academic merit, in particular, academic merit in the final year of study.

Credits/Exemptions

Students with previous studies in psychology may be granted credit up to a maximum of twenty-four points.

Single subject enrolment

This course will replace enrolment in single psychology subjects.

Students must pass the first-semester subject at a given year level before proceeding to the second-semester subject at that year level, and must pass both subjects at that year level before proceeding to the next year level of the subject. Students who do not pass any subject after two attempts will be liable for exclusion.

Course structure

The course structure is identical to the undergraduate major sequence in psychology. The subjects are described in the chapter 'Subjects'.
