Communicable diseases control in developing countries

Synopsis This subject has been designed to develop skills in the investigation, management, and prevention of the major infectious causes of morbidity and mortality in developing countries. Global health and demographic trends; primary health care and community development; determinants of public health policy; gender, development, and health; economics and health; role of international agencies in health development; health program design; health personnel management; health worker skills development; community health promotion and education; health program financing; introduction to health program evaluation; essential drug program management.

Assessment Students will prepare and submit a formal health project design document (15 to 20 pages in length). The assessment will be based on an oral presentation describing the project design and the written document.
