Objectives On completion of this subject students
will have started a patient group and demonstrated the ability to apply the
theory of group psychoanalysis to a patient group to achieve therapeutic
outcomes.
Synopsis Students enrolled in this subject will have access to a number
of patients through their professional work. They will select suitable patients
for group work by discussion of each patient with the class prior to selection
of the patient for the group. Once the patient group has been selected by each
student, the student will commence twice-weekly sessions of one hour each as
group conductor, as part of the student's professional work. The student will
continue to participate in weekly experiential supervisory sessions with the
class (1.5 hours each) in which the progress of the patient groups will be
discussed.
Assessment Assessment will be made through reports given by the supervisor on the candidate's ability to make observations and apply theoretical knowledge.: 100%
