Synopsis The subject includes the following topics: history of the development of group psychotherapy; Freud's monograph on group psychology; ego and the id; introduction to group concepts by Bion, Foulkes and other major contributors; group dynamics and defence mechanisms in group; resistances in group; projective identification in dyads and groups; aspects of transference/countertransference in groups; boundary issues in groups; and interpretation in analytically orientated groups.
