Objectives On completion of this subject the student is expected to understand the family as a client concept; recognise the diversity of family systems within the contemporary Australian social structure; identify the cultural influences on health needs within the diverse and dynamic family systems; analyse the changing needs of families across the lifespan; discuss the changing needs of families in health, illness and disability in a member; discuss major social issues, their impact on family health and culturally appropriate action strategies within nursing practice; identify resources available and interventions for promoting health within the primary health care context.

Synopsis This subject provides an understanding and skills required to work with family health dynamics. It deals with the processes, impact of contemporary issues facing Australian society and their interventions.

Assessment Two assignments: 30% each · Mini project: 40%
