Objectives On successful completion of this subject, it is expected that students will be able to discuss the role of the nurse as an educator within the health-care environment; demonstrate the application of learning theory, principles and concepts to teaching in the clinical setting: identify factors which influence learning; develop a teaching plan; demonstrate the appropriate application of teaching methods, strategies, and aids; develop tools for evaluating the effectiveness of teaching and assessment of learning.
Synopsis The teaching role of the registered nurse and the educative process as an integral part of nursing practice and nursing professional development. Students will be encouraged to gain an understanding of the teaching-learning process within the context of their own work situations.
Assessment Assignments (3): 20%, 30% and 50%
