Objectives The objectives are that students should have gained an understanding of intervention and treatment options for: people presenting with acute psychiatric disorders, and people requiring intensive rehabilitation. Students should also have developed a knowledge of the principles and practices of case management.
Synopsis This subject provides an overview of principles and strategies for crisis intervention, and deals with family and social network interventions, intervention and treatment options for people with acute psychiatric disabilities, as well as principles and practices of case management as the basis of current and subsequent service delivery. This subject will be taught using computer-mediated communication, video programs, video conferencing, residential schools and mailed out text-based materials, as well as on-campus seminars and tutorials.
