Centre for Electronic Commerce (CEC)

Executive Director: Associate Professor Bob Bignall (acting)
The Centre for Electronic Commerce (CEC) is jointly operated by the Faculty of Business and Economics and the Faculty of Information Technology. It is a unique electronic commerce services organisation, combining the strengths of industry professionals with the academic and research infrastructure of the two faculties in establishing a national and international nucleus of expertise in the field of electronic commerce. The centre's focus is to assist industry and government to benefit from the use of electronic commerce by providing a range of independent consulting, training and research services helping managers, enterprises and communities, including regional communities, to come to terms with on-line business and electronic commerce technologies.
CEC clients include the Australian government, a number of State and local governments, large private sector organisations, industry associations and small to medium business. The central office of the CEC is located in the GREEN Inc technology and business development centre at the Gippsland campus. However, most CEC consultants are geographically independent of the centre itself, being located in major capital cities and electronically linked to the centre in a true application of electronic commerce technology.
