Objectives This subject will provide students with a knowledge of information systems infrastructure within organisations, management of information systems development, processes and specialist staff, and current issues faced by information systems managers. Students will develop an understanding of the relationship between the information systems infrastructure and the organisation, in particular, the strategic nature of information systems. Students will develop the skills required to plan and manage information systems development, implementation and maintenance within organisations, and will also develop an appreciation of the ethical standards required in information systems management.

Synopsis A study of issues in information system strategy and management which enable information systems to be developed, implemented, maintained and managed. Topics will include the role of information systems within organisations; organisational behaviour and its impact on information systems; ethical and social issues relating to information systems; strategic information systems; information systems planning; information systems strategy; global information systems; electronic commerce; management of information resources, information systems development, end-user computing, information security; business reengineering.

Assessment Examination: 60% - Practical work: 40%
