Objectives At the completion of this subject students should have acquired the capacity to use and critically evaluate the basic professional tools and an understanding of the structure of library and information services.

Synopsis A general overview of the current structure of library services and professional associations. A critical study of the major sources of information in the field of librarianship, of the efficiency of the indexing, abstracting and bibliographical services, and of the publishing and distribution of the literature.

Assessment Essays: 60% - Seminar participation and presentation: 40%
