Objectives Upon successful completion of this subject, students should have become familiar with some of the issues relating to education and school librarianship; be able to plan a study in depth in an area of interest to librarianship; be able to use relevant resources and tools for research.
Synopsis This subject aims to introduce students to some of the approaches to research in librarianship and a variety of resources available for research. Students will learn to find information using indexing and abstracting tools, databases including CD-ROMs, microfiches etc. The subject is taught by individual consultations, regular progress reports during semester, group discussions and study guides.
Assessment Proposal (1000 words): 20% - Essay or equivalent project (5000 words): 80%
