Objectives On completion of this subject students should understand 2D and 3D computer graphics theory; be able to demonstrate a good knowledge of graphics hardware and software; and be experienced in graphics programming.

Synopsis Introduction to computer graphics: brief history, applications, hardware and software and the fundamental ideas behind modern computer graphics. Two dimensional graphics: device-independent programming; graphics primitives and attributes. Interactive graphics: physical input devices; event-driven input; user interface. Transformations; translation, rotation, scaling, shear. Three-dimensional graphics: 3D curves and surfaces; projections.

Assessment Assignments: 40% - Examination (2 hours): 60%
