Objectives At the completion of this subject students should understand some of the more commonly used computer modelling techniques used in business and industry and be familiar with the applications of these techniques to business-related problems using a variety of applications software and other computer tools.
Synopsis This subject examines the principles and practice of modelling business systems as a support for the decision making activities. The topics include decision making under uncertainty, project management, Monte Carlo simulation, forecasting, inventory control and financial modelling. Each topic is illustrated with a user friendly computer package for use on personal computers.
Assessment Assignments: 40% - Examination (2 hours): 60% - To successfully complete the subject students must demonstrate a satisfactory level of performance in each component of the assessment.
