Objectives At the completion of the subject, the students should understand the fundamental functions and roles of the key components in electrical circuits and be able to analyse and test basic electronic circuits.

Synopsis In this subject students are introduced to the principles of circuit analysis and the basic concepts and characteristics of electronic devices. The syllabus includes elementary concepts of DC and AC circuit analysis, fundamentals of diodes and transistors and their application in switching circuits and amplifiers. Introduction to operational amplifiers, their basic applications in electronic circuits. Application of CAD tools for the analysis of circuits.

Assessment Examination (3 hours): 60% - Assignments and practical work: 40%
