6 points - One 2-hour lecture and one 1-hour tutorial per week - Second semester - Clayton - Prerequisites: A business systems computing subject at first- or second-year level or equivalent

Objectives At the completion of this subject, students should be able to develop a formal business case document. In order to achieve this, they should attain a basic understanding of the general concepts of business improvements, aligning IT with business strategies and business re-engineering; understand the role of IT in business improvements; and apply integrated business improvement concepts to a business environment.

Synopsis This subject provides students with the fundamentals of business improvements which will enable them to present and develop a formal business case document. It involves analysis of the business, aligning IT to business strategies, initiating change through to the implementation, review and maintenance of the improvement process. Practical assignments addressing the proposal, development and presentation of business cases are carried out in a (project) team. These will be based on case studies and contribute partly to the final assessment of this subject.

Assessment Assignment 1: 15% - Assignment 2: 25% - Examination (2 hours): 60% - Students must pass the examination in order to pass the subject
